It was clear after the betrayal of trust in book one that these two guys were going to have some kind of a reunion in this book and boy oh boy, it was even more emotional and better than I expected. That is saying a lot, because this author always delivers an amazing payoff. Cole's reactions and emotional state I expected as well as his determination to have revenge on Ned. What I didn't expect was how devastated we would find Ned and how broken he would be. Clearly these two need each other badly but how can that happen when every bit of trust is gone? Read this and be amazed at how it happens. I loved every minute of both of these books and the only thing I am waiting for right now is a chance to hear them on audio. I am a sucker for a good epilogue and got that here in spades, too. To get to the HEA their path is paved with boulders, not tiny pebbles or even stones. This is the sequel to THE MAN WHO LOVED COLE FLORES, which was truly a great book in my estimation. Whereas that book followed Ned, this book is told from the perspective of Cole seven years later. After what Ned did to Tom, the man who was like a father to Cole, he is out to kill Ned if he ever sees him again. So of course, their paths cross. What Cole doesn’t expect are the feelings he thought were gone to still reside in his heart. He fights those emotions to no avail.Cole is riding with another gay man, Lars who is a bounty hunter. He knows who Cole is and Cole feels safe from the law with Lars. On their hunt for the infamous “Rockies’ Wolfman” Cole stumbles on Ned. Now what will he do? One part of him wants to kill Ned and another part wants to jump his bod. 😳The ending is thrilling. So much happens in a relative short period of time. I can’t decide if my legs needed to run with my leading men or clinch for what was coming. I also think the authors did a commendable job in trying to remind us of what happened in the last book in order to make reading this book more enjoyable. I’m actually sorry to see these two guys go because I loved their stories so much.
