Contrary to what one reviewer posted, this has NOTHING to do with telling your kid that he's going to be worthless if he's skinny (seriously, I can't even believe this person read the book or knows ANYTHING about the character), nor does it have to do with steroids or whatever cracked crap she thinks it has to do with.Steve Rogers is skinny because he's sickly. Period. Anyone who's ever seen the movies or read ANY of the comics understands why that's important: he wants to be a soldier, and thanks to a laundry list of health problems (scoliosis, exposure to tuberculosis, enlarged heart from rheumatic fever, bad asthma in a time before decent treatments were readily available, among other things) he simply isn't physically fit enough to be one.What anyone who actually READ this book should take away is that a good, determined young man decided on a goal and found a way to achieve it. He wants the goal for all the right reasons, because people are in danger and he wants to protect them.Period. That's it. And oh, by the way, sexist reviewer, it's not just BOYS who find Captain America an inspiring fictional figure. Guess nobody told you that GIRLS read comics and books like this, too -- in fact, I bought it for my daughter, and she loves it. I am throwing this book away. It basically says if a boy is skinny (which my son inevitably will be) then they are weak and not healthy. But if you get an "energy shot" (sounds like steroids?) in a "secret lab" then you will be healthy, strong, and accepted. Disgusting! If this book were about a girl magically getting skinnier and "more beautiful" people would be freaking out. Boys are affected by negative body talk too! Protect your boy and don't get this book!
